Born and raised in Los Angeles California, Maria Belafonte graduated early from New York University's Gallatin School for Individualized Study. Her work includes music videos, commercials, and long-form storytelling, often blending fiction and reality through playful, stylized narratives. Her projects explore themes of identity, self-mythology, and cultural perception. In addition to her filmmaking, she is the Creative Director of Sankofa.org, a non-profit organization.
