A-levels; studies in economics (Diplom Volkswirtin); studies in business administration (Diplom Kauffrau); doctorate in economics (Dr.rer.pol.).

Employed as an analyst and vice president in capital investment consulting and in the executive office of leading financial companies; head of investment management and development of new markets for an internationally active group of companies in the food industry; several years of international experience in Asia with a focus on China as well as in Europe and the USA; co-founding, consulting and development of start-up companies.

She is chairwoman of the parliamentary group in the Bundestag, is a member of the Federal Executive Board, chaired the Federal Expert Committee Euro and Currency, is a member of the Federal Program Commission, in the meantime also chairwoman.

Weidel lives in a lesbian relationship with film producer Sarah Bossard. They adopted two children.
