- Amir El-Shenawy is an Egyptian filmmaker based in Cairo. His debut feature documentary, Kilo 64, premiered at Cairo International Film Festival in 2018, earning nominations for Best Arab Film and Best Artistic Contribution. It also won the First Feature Film prize at the National Festival for Egyptian Cinema. In 2022, his short documentary "EDRIS" received a Special Mention Award at Carthage Film Festival in Tunisia. His second feature documentary ‘Seven Summits’ had its world premiere at the Red Sea International Film Festival in 2025.
Amir holds an MA in Screen Documentary from Goldsmiths, University of London, which he completed in 2017. Since 2021, he has been an adjunct faculty member at the American University in Cairo, where he teaches filmmaking courses.
Currently, Amir is working on his third feature documentary 'The Return of Captain Kabonga'. Now in post-production stage, "The Return of Captain Kabonga " is slated for release in 2026.
