The journey of an ambitious pharmacy graduate who shifts his career and starts a farming business at Kilo 64 off Cairo-Alexandria desert road. Moved by the spirt of the January 25th Revolution, Wael El-Shenawy, 24, starts an agriculture startup with the aim to make a social impact, but not everything goes as planned.

Filmed over two years, Kilo 64 is a tale of two generations as it follows the journey of the young entrepreneur who's trying to revive his father's dream, who made the same attempt 20 years ago. A simple personal story that tells a lot about what happened in Egypt for decades.

Amir El-Shenawy is an Egyptian filmmaker based in Cairo. His debut feature documentary, Kilo 64, premiered at Cairo International Film Festival in 2018, earning nominations for Best Arab Film and Best Artistic Contribution. It also won the First Feature Film prize at the National Festival for Egyptian Cinema. In 2022, his short documentary "EDRIS" received a Special Mention Award at Carthage Film Festival in Tunisia. His second feature documentary ‘Seven Summits’ had its world premiere at the Red Sea International Film Festival in 2025.

Amir holds an MA in Screen Documentary from Goldsmiths, University of London, which he completed in 2017. Since 2021, he has been an adjunct faculty member at the American University in Cairo, where he teaches filmmaking courses.

Currently, Amir is working on his third feature documentary 'The Return of Captain Kabonga'. Now in post-production stage, "The Return of Captain Kabonga " is slated for release in 2026.
