Joan S., also simply known as Joan, is an actor, director, writer and musician, known for their work on Sanders Sides (2016), Cartoon Therapy (2017), and other productions of their long time friend Thomas Sanders, both on Sanders' series, in front of or behind the camera, and composing many of his songs, like the singles "The Things We Used to Share" or "On the Borderline" among others. They are mainly a director and editor in the Sanders Sides series, but frequently appear in other series on Thomas Sanders (2013) and Thomas Sanders & Friends (2018), such as Voices of Unreason, Awkward Adventures (2017), and Ask the Experts. Joan is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns.

As a contrast to Thomas Sanders, who almost never swears in his productions, Joan almost always curses at least once in Sanders' productions, being subsequently bleeped out by Sanders.

They are non-binary and use they/them pronouns.
Their grandmother was a Filipino immigrant to America who had a difficult life because of racism against her by Joan's own great-grandmother, who lived in the house where their grandmother was living, and whose son eventually married, to have children, Joan's father among them.
They were pescetarian, that is, they avoided eating meat but ate fish and any other kind of food. They would later become full vegan and started avoiding any kind of product of animal origin.

[about why Joan doesn't own a Twitter account and doesn't want to open one] The truth is that I tried twitter and it wasn't for me. I'm iffy on social media altogether. The people that have kind things to say, and that want to interact with me are really great- but social media requires a lot of upkeep, and it's very performative; I don't like performing constantly in that way. I'm super up for YouTube, but I don't quite have a fully formed vision yet, and I'd want to do it right. I sometimes fantasize about deleting my Instagram and Tumblr, but I don't really think that's a good idea right now.

I really do appreciate the people though. You guys are great, and I don't even know how to react to some of the kind things that you have to say. I feel like I haven't earned it yet, in a way. There's a lot that I want to create and put out there, but there's a long road ahead of me. Working with Thomas (Sanders) is pretty fulfilling though- we're planning some really, really exciting stuff for SS (Sanders Sides). That's the work that's helping me keep things together right now, tbh.
