Born in the textile city of Bhilwara in Rajasthan , Suniel Kumar (stage name Official Name: Sunil Kumar Bhushan) cinematic odyssey began in the unlikeliest of places. Growing up in a small town with limited resources, his first encounter with the magic of cinema occurred with the 3D spectacle, "Chota Chetan," leaving an indelible mark on his imagination. Academically gifted, Suniel's journey into the world of arts and culture commenced when he earned a spot in a boarding school in Udaipur. Sitting by Fatehsagar lake, he found solace in observing people, sparking a lifelong affinity for observation, introspection, and imagination. Vidhya Bhawan Senior Secondary School in Udaipur became the canvas for Suniel's artistic endeavors, where he participated in various forms, gaining renown for his spontaneous poetry. Introduced to photography by his father, Suniel's love for the visual arts grew, culminating in a profound passion for photography, movies, and music. Although urged to pursue a medical career, Suniel's heart belonged to the arts. A pivotal moment arrived when he watched "3 Idiots" in 2010, prompting a courageous conversation with his father. This led him to abandon BSc. in favor of arts and move to Mumbai to pursue his dream of becoming a filmmaker. Self-taught and driven, Suniel further honed his skills through courses at FTII in 2018, including Film Appreciation and Digital Cinematography. His career as a cinematographer gained momentum with the award-winning "Medicine Lamps" (2018) and continued with the selection of "Valli" in the prestigious Singapore International Film Festival 2023. Suniel's ongoing journey in Hindi cinema is marked by a commitment to create masterpieces, seeking emotions in the ordinary, and bringing a unique vision to every frame.
