Biography

Gerald Trottman

Biography

  • Gerald Trottman is an American composer, arranger, songwriter, and producer whose arrangements and scores have breathed life into everything from kids animation to sci-fi adventure. With compositions spanning jazz to classical, he is best known for his work in music for film, television, and media - most recently as co-composer of the score and songs, and music arranger, for the Disney Jr. series "Hey AJ". Within days of the show’s January 2026 release, it ranked #4 on Disney+, with rave reviews.

Gerald’s other work includes songwriting for iconic brands such as the Grammy nominated Blade Runner 2049 movie soundtrack (2017), for which he co-wrote the only original song: "Almost Human", performed by Lauren Daigle. He has collaborated with top artists, too: His songwriting for the animated blockbuster film The Garfield Movie (2024) featured several songs he co-wrote with the artists who performed them, including Jon Batiste, Keith Urban, and Snoop Dog, respectively.

Some of Gerald’s work in film has extended into related television series; he co-composed the entire score for the Blade Runner: Black Lotus animated TV Series (2021) and co-wrote its theme song "Feel You Now", performed and co-written by Alessia Cara. He also co-wrote several other songs featured on the soundtrack, most notably one he co-wrote with Tori Kelly, who also performed it.

Among Gerald’s other most notable work outside of cinema is his role as co-composer and music arranger for the Emmy nominated animated Amazon Series "Pete The Cat" (2017), featuring Dave Matthews, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, and Jessica Biel, to name a few.

Of note, Gerald’s creativity on ongoing projects is enduring: He had numerous musical works featured in every season of the sci-fi Amazon series "The Expanse" (2015).
