Peenakee Singh(I)

Peenakee Singh is an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, and editor from Cuttack, Odisha. She studied filmmaking at the Biju Patnaik Film and Television Institute of Odisha, specialising in film editing. Her journey in cinema began as a child artist, followed by extensive work in regional theatre and television. She later transitioned behind the camera and worked as a screenwriter in Kolkata before returning to Odisha in 2017. She is the founder of PS Motion Pictures, a production company based in Cuttack. Peenakee Singh made her feature film directorial debut with Charitra (2020). As a filmmaker, she has directed and produced films such as Daalcheeni (2022), Phalguna Chaitra (2023), My Sweet Housewife (2025), and Misiri (2025). Her short films include Farchaa (2017), Swahaa (2017), and A Cup of Monsoon (2022). Her works have received theatrical releases, streamed on national OTT platforms, won the Odisha State Film Award, and been showcased at international film festivals. In 2024, she was honoured with the Devi Award for her contribution to original Odia cinema, presented by The New Indian Express and conferred by former Odisha Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik.
