Erika Hurt was born to parents, Daniel Hurt and Andrea Gibson-Hurt, and was raised in Desloge, MO, with her identical twin sister, Danielle Hurt, and her brothers, Cody Hurt and Caleb Turner.
Erika spent her life as an animal lover, and at one time, she had planned on attending a local college, to get her degree as a Veterinarian. However, throughout her high school career, she started writing poetry and short stories, and fell in love with the idea of creating worlds and characters. So, she took some time, and obtained her Associate's Degree in General Studies, while she thought more about her future.
Erika is studying at the New York Film Academy in Burbank, CA, working towards her BFA in Screenwriting. Erika loves working in the fantasy genre; however, a horror film she worked on, Daughter of the Lake, has won numerous awards at film festivals, both local and abroad. Ad although Erika has her mind set on screenwriting, she worked as the Director for her web series pilot, The Last Hunt, and her short film, To Catch A Killer. She has also worked as the script supervisor for several student films.
