Biography

Arema Arega, Voronezh, cold summer of 79, is a Cuban-Spanish singer-songwriter, music producer, painter, fashion designer and filmmaker, living in Barcelona. Born from an Ethiopian father and a Cuban mother, her work, both pictorial and musical, are the result of this mixture. There are Blues with Son, Bossa with Jazz, Folk with Funk and ChaChaCha.

Her work as a songwriter/ composer & filmmaker has being selected by: New York Jazz Film Festival 2017, Ibermúsicas VII Singer-Songwriter Contest 2020, Krimson Horyzon International Film Festival 2022, Toronto International Women Film Festival - 2021, Near Nazareth Festival ( NNF) - 2021, Hollywood Art and Movie Awards - 2022 (Finalist), New York Independent Cinema Awards - 2022, 8 & Halfilm Awards (Rome) - 2022 (Winner Best Animation), Florence Film Awards, Stockholm Film Television Festival - 2022 (Finalist), Serbest International Film Festival - 2022 (SIFF) (Semi-Finalist), Bristol Independent Film Festival - 2022 (Soundtrack), European Cinematography AWARDS (ECA) - 2022 (Soundtrack) among others.

She is one of the artists on the album GillesPeterson Presents HavanaCultura: The Search Continues and the Gilles Peterson Presents Havana Cultura: Anthology. She was also invited by BahamaSoulClub to collaborate on their Albums The Cuban Tapes, The Havana '58 , The Havana Remixes,"Bohemia After Dawn '' and the Club des Belugas's Album Nine. The EP Blue Bossa - My Feeling released by RamrockRecords is a collaboration with the UK artist Born74. Her last releases, as a solo artist, are the Albums TheRedSoundtracks, TheBlueSoundtracks: The Light Seekers Journey and singles that are all part of The Soundtracks by Arema Arega, a developing project created as a score for an imaginary film, where she composes, produces, arranges and also makes her own music videos to introduce the listener to her cinematic world.
