Biography

Harry Allouche is a French composer, pianist, conductor and music producer whose work blends classical tradition with contemporary cinematic imaginary. His scores combine orchestral colors and experimental techniques, exploring the connections between sound, image and narrative.

In 2022, he composed the original music for "Los Colonos" ("The Settlers"), directed by Felipe Gálvez. Premiering in Un Certain Regard at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, the film won the FIPRESCI Prize, was Chile's entry to the 2024 Academy Awards, and earned him the Pedro Sienna Award for Best Original Music. Through this creative collaboration with Gálvez, he experimented with textures and alternative sound capture methods to enrich his orchestral composition.

His latest score, for César Acevedo's "Horizonte", debuted at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. Recent projects include "A South Facing Window" by Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir, set to premiere at the 78th Locarno Film Festival in 2025 before screening at TIFF later that year. He also arranged Wake by JB Dunckel (AIR), commissioned by the San Francisco Symphony and Gautier Capuçon, for the upcoming Warner Classics album Gaïa.

Earlier credits include the Arte documentary "Cinema Through The Eye of Magnum" (Telluride Film Festival, 2017), co-produced by Magnum Photos, and the feature film "In Your Hands" (2018), starring Kristin Scott Thomas and Lambert Wilson, where he also worked as musical director and pianist for the lead actor.

Since 2017, he has been performing as a silent film pianist at venues such as the Cinémathèque Française and the Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé Foundation in Paris. Beyond film, he has arranged for the Orchestre Français des Jeunes, the Théâtre du Châtelet, and artists such as JB Dunckel and April March.

A graduate of Sciences Po Paris and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris - where he served as an associate professor of harmony in the Music, Sound & Image Department - Harry began his musical career as a drummer in the rock band Les Shades, signed to the French indie label Tricatel. He continues to expand his distinctive musical language in collaboration with filmmakers worldwide while developing his first solo project.
