David Kline(IX)

David Kline is an award winning filmmaker with experience as a scriptwriter, producer, director and editor. He started his media career as a runner with BBC Films before training as a journalist and switching to television, working as a Researcher and Assistant Producer with BBC Sport. He arrived in script development via a fortuitous, personal link to US actor, writer, director and producer Laurence Fishburne whom he supported adapting Paulo Coelho's 'The Alchemist' for the screen, which was optioned by Warner Brothers.

He co-wrote the feature film screenplay 'Housejackers' which was optioned by Poli productions in Belfast and production was financed by Northern Ireland Screen. David has previously worked as a script reader and reporter for several UK film agencies including Script Factory, Scottish Screen, BBC Drama (Wales) and Northern Ireland Screen.

He has written numerous short film scripts and produced several, including 'Game Over' a co-write with Director Adam Jenkins featuring Blake Harrison, Gemma Whelan and Naomi Battrick, which was a winner of the Performance Film and Media Insurance Short Film Competition 2019 (sponsored by Hiscox) and the horror suspense category at the Ealing Film Festival 2020. 'Game Over' also received multiple Official Selections at worldwide film festivals including the LA Shorts International Film Festival 2018 and the London Short Film Festival 2019. In addition David wrote, produced, directed and edited the short film 'On the Edge' which was winner of Best Drama (Diamond Award) at the European Independent Film Award (EIFA) summer 2018.

David has written several spec, full-length, feature film screenplays in a range of genres from horror to thriller to family drama and a spec six-part Television Drama series, a dark, suburban thriller. He has also collaborated on and co-written a handful of screenplays.
