S.J. Doss is a writer and independent filmmaker from The New Jersey/Philadelphia area. S.J. started indulging into the arts at a very young age. Before he could do anything, he would draw made-up characters on any scrap piece of paper he could find. He would record audio movies of his own on tape recorders, and try to get other family and friends involved on the stories. S.J. had a much older half brother who had some video equipment. When S.J. first got the chance to help out at the age of 7 on a short horror film, he was instantly hooked. As time went on, and S.J. was making films with his older brother and then using friend's parent's home camcorders, the obsession grew even more. His interest grew so strong that most people around him didn't share the same passion, and it became hard to continue doing projects and taking them to higher levels. After awhile, when S.J. reached his teens, he was conditioned by everyone around him that making movies was nothing but a dream. It was something that could never be possible. He was taught, that where he came from, he had to go out and get a job with the mentality to conform to the norm and be happy with just a decent paycheck.

Years went by and S.J. bought some sound recording equipment as a side hobby. He built a bedroom studio and had some major radio success with his personal projects. S.J. liked it but he wasn't fulfilled. Not until he got word about how affordable and cinematic DSLR cameras were. He purchased a DSLR and the passion he had as a kid kicked right back in and went into higher gears. S.J. has a strong love for cinematography but came to the realization that you cannot have a good film without a good story. He felt he had great story ideas and fresh concepts, but he wanted to make sure he mastered the craft of story structure and screenwriting, understanding and valuing the importance.

To this day, S.J. Doss works very hard in developing his story ideas and bringing them to life in his own courageous and unique perspective. S.J. Doss just recently placed second in the horror short script category for The Indie Film Gathering International. It was S.J. Doss' first script he has ever submitted into a festival or competition.
