Biography

Razid Season is an independent filmmaker, writer, director, and producer based in New York whose work explores identity, history, migration, memory, resilience, and the human condition through visually driven, character-focused storytelling. Born in Abu Dhabi and raised in Dhaka, he draws on personal, historical, and cross-cultural experiences to tell intimate stories with universal resonance. He earned an MFA in Film from CUNY. His work includes Elijah (2024), an award-winning drama about a Bengali Muslim father's journey toward understanding and accepting his transgender child; Kaddish (2020), a Holocaust drama recognized internationally and selected among Cinema Daily US's Top 10 Independent Short Fiction Films; Maze (2017); Battle for Speech (2015); and Rules (2014). His films have screened at more than 50 international film festivals, including Academy Award-qualifying festivals, and have also been presented by universities, broadcasters, museums, libraries, and cultural institutions. His work has received international recognition and multiple awards for directing and storytelling.
