He began his professional career at an unusually young age and quickly drew industry attention with a Rising Star Award nomination from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. Soto creates character-driven stories rooted in humanity and emotional realism. His distinctive approach and cinematic ambition have made him one of the most sought-after young directors as he prepares a major limited series and develops his first U.S. feature film.

Working as a writer, director and director of photography, Soto’s credits include the critically acclaimed short film Hold the Lighthouse, the final seasons of the CBC series Reasonable Doubt and Six Degrees, as well as Still I Rise on Crave.
