Akil Jackson is a Georgia born, Los Angeles based actor, poet, and public speaker best known as Cousin Andre in Ava DuVernay's Origin (2023). After bursting onto the collegiate theatrical scene at Georgia Southern University in 2014 with triple consecutive award-winning roles, Jackson would leave the stage in pursuit of the silver screen, accepting his first of many Set Production Assistant jobs in July of 2018.
After 2 years of working behind the scenes for some of Hollywood's biggest names, the actor finally had his own theatrical debut as Archie Fambrough, opposite A-Lister Jonathan Majors in JD Dillard's 2022 war epic Devotion (2022). Less than one year later, Jackson could be found on every streaming screen in America as Mr. Miller in Apple TV's hit series Swagger (2021), his talents unignorable by DuVernay shortly thereafter.
Since then, the actor has leveraged his many years of on-set experience into a formidable set of skills sought after by directors and producers alike.
