Biography

  • Award nominated actress Everly Carganilla is proving to be "one to watch" in film and television. Most recently, Carganilla can be seen starring as Patty Tango-Torrez in "Spy Kids: Armageddon," Netflix's reboot of the iconic family franchise of the same name. Written, directed, and produced by Robert Rodriguez, the film follows Patty and her brother Tony (Connor Esterson) as they unwittingly help a powerful game developer unleash a computer virus that gives him control of all technology. They must become spies themselves to save their parents (Gina Rodriguez and Zachary Levi) and the world. Carganilla is a standout as Patty, who is always dedicated to staying true to herself and doing what is right, even when it isn't always the easiest choice.

Also in film, Carganilla is often recognized for her starring role as Ellie Torres in the Netflix comedy feature "Yes Day" alongside Jennifer Garner, Jenna Ortega, Edgar Ramirez, and Julian Lerner. In television she gained critical acclaim for appearing as Ju-Hee "Ju-Ju" in Netflix's "The Chair" opposite Sandra Oh. Critics raved Carganilla is "terrifically natural" (The Los Angeles Times) and a "rare young beast who leaves you looking forward to seeing more of both the character and the actor" (The Guardian).

Additional notable credits for Carganilla include her role in the Apple TV+ series "The Afterparty" which led to her nomination for Best Young Actor at the 2022 Imagen Foundation Awards. Previous roles for Carganilla also include her starring role in the short film "Bud," and her guest-starring role in "That Girl Lay Lay."

Born and raised in Southern California, Carganilla had an affinity for being in front of the camera from the time she was a baby. Her mother, Jamie, is a trained singer and toured with Broadway while her father, Paul, is a screenwriter and director. Throughout her baby and toddler years the Carganilla family would create comedic short films and skits together, and would watch in awe as their daughter flourished on screen. Her first professional role came appearing as Kimberly Kane in "The Haunted Man", which was written and directed by her father and released in 2021. She has been steadily working ever since.

When she is not on set you can find Carganilla playing with her little brother Noah, writing a script in her backyard, or working on her book, which she started after being inspired by her favorite author, Sarah Barkoff. Carganilla is also passionate about giving back to the community. For the past few years, she has been the leading fundraiser for NAMI Walks Ventura which raises funds for the National Alliance of Mental Illness. She has also participated in Feed The Children events.
