Biography

Renato is a Brazilian-American multi-hyphenate filmmaker and performer with experience in acting, writing, directing, and producing. A graduate of the School of Dramatic Art at the University of Sao Paulo (EAD/ECA/USP) and currently pursuing an MFA in Producing at the American Film Institute Conservatory (AFI) in Los Angeles. Renato's latest work SNAIL has won the LA Brazilian Film Festival and NY Film Awards as Best International Film, Best Actor and Best Screenplay and received other accolades at festivals worldwide, underscoring Renato's multifaceted creative voice.

Renato was born and raised in Brazil, where his artistic life began onstage before expanding into writing, directing, and producing. His work reflects the collision of identity, displacement, and aspiration. A multidisciplinary storyteller, Renato draws from a broad range of experiences - including his time leading Marketing for Latin America at IMAX - which sharpened his understanding of audience, global perspectives, and the cultural nuances that shape how stories land.

His work examines how people navigate the spaces between who they are, who they were taught to be, and who they hope to become. Rather than foregrounding cultural specificity as a label, Renato uses it as a lens - one that deepens narrative texture without overshadowing emotional truth. His films and performances weave together physicality, humor, and vulnerability, revealing characters caught between worlds yet propelled by a desire to connect, transform, and endure.
