  • Mark Nicholls is Senior Lecturer in Cinema Studies at the University of Melbourne where he has taught film since 1993. He is the author of Lost Objects of Desire: The Performances of Jeremy Irons, Berghahn Books (2012), Scorsese's Men: Melancholia and the Mob, Pluto and Indiana University Press (2004), and recently published chapters and articles on Italian Art and Film in the Cold War, Freud on Film, Martin Scorsese, Luchino Visconti and Shakespeare in film, Powell and Pressburger's The Red Shoes (1948) and The Ballets Russes . Mark is a film journalist and critic and worked for many years on ABC Radio and for The Age newspaper, for which he wrote a weekly film column, "Film Buffs Choice", between 2007 and 2009. Mark has an extensive list of stage credits as a playwright, performer, producer, and director.
