Luis J. Arellano is a director born in Puebla, Mexico. He studied Film and Audiovisual Production at the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla and later specialized in film directing at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica, where he graduated with honors.
He has directed the short films Echo of the Trumpet (2018), My Kingdom (2022) -nominated for the 2023 Ariel Awards and included in the 2023 BAFTA/LA Shortlist- and Long Journey Till Dawn (2024), selected for the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards. His work has been featured at festivals such as Biarritz Amérique Latine, the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana, Monterrey International Film Festival, BAFTA/LA Student Film Awards, Sehsüchte Potsdam, Shorts México, and the Santa Cruz International Film Festival.
He has also worked as an editor on six documentary and fiction series for platforms like Netflix, Amazon, Star+, and Vix, as well as on short films and commercials.
