Biography

Soumen Chakraborty is an Indian Bengali film and theatre actor known for his dynamic performances across stage and screen. He made his film debut in Hubba (2023), a crime thriller directed by Bratya Basu. Soumen began his journey with theatre in 2017. He got the role of Panchanan Karmakar in the play Aksharik(2023), written and directed by Debasish Ray, which was a massive hit in all over the country,it marked his first notable huge success on stage.

Over the years, he has been Lead part of several acclaimed theatre productions including Hulusthul (2024), Bhalobasa (2022), November (2023), and Hariye Paoa (2021). In addition to his stage work, he appeared in supporting roles in films such as Ektu Sore Bosun (2023) by Kamaleswar Mukherjee .

His performance in the short film Jaanla (2023) received positive feedback within his creative circle. In 2021, Soumen expanded his repertoire by narrating audio stories for Radio Mirchi's app, Mirchi Plus, contributing over 110 hours of voice work.

His recognition grew significantly following his appearance in Goppo Mirer Thek (2023). He later featured in popular web series on Hoichoi, including Byomkesh: Durgra Rahasya (2023) directed by Srijit Mukherji, and Kaalratri (2024) by Ayan Chakrabarty. Then he got an opportunity in Srijit Mukherji's Killbill Society (2025) . He got some attention after doing the character Manash in Soumik Sen's web series Jazz City (2026) . His Upcoming projects include pivotal roles in Srijit Mukherji's next pujo release Emperor VS Sarat Chandra(2026) . Unmesh Ganguly's Ghoton Syndrome(2026) . Tuhin Halder's Choddo Anna (2027) and Subhajit Sinha's Sweet Dreams(2026) .

Born in the village of Sandhipur in Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, Soumen completed his schooling at Netajinagar Sripati Siksha Sadan in Midnapore. In 2017, He moved to Kolkata, where he earned a Graduate degree in Theatre from Rabindra Bharati University before beginning his professional acting career on stage.

Much has been whispered and written about the romantic life of Soumen Chakraborty. From 2019 to 2022, Soumen was in a relationship with his then-girlfriend, Maria Mukherjee, a chemist by profession. After their paths diverged in 2022, Soumen crossed paths with fellow theatre actress Sulagna Nath in 2023. The two began dating and quickly blossomed into one of the theatre community's most beloved couples.

However, their journey together came to an end in April 2026. According to media reports, Soumen currently prefers his solitude. In a recent newspaper interview, he reflected on his current relationship status, "I don't like feeling caged. I am not dating anyone right now, but then again, who doesn't love the feeling of falling in love?"

Even as he embraces his single life, rumors continue to swirl, frequently linking Soumen's name with another senior theatre actress and a singer from Bolpur.
