Biography

Tod Hardin

Mini bio

  • Tod Hardin is an award-winning filmmaker, writer and marketer. He is the co-founder of Plastic Oceans International, where he oversaw global operations, marketing, special events and communications. He also co-led the organization's film development program, which includes the creation and distribution of inspirational solutions-focused film, media and awareness initiatives, paired with supportive environmental activism.

He has been in the marketing and communications fields for over 25 years and has worked in a variety of industries, from casinos and entertainment, to nonprofits, broadcasting, events and the fast-paced landscape of Silicon Valley's tech world. Tod served as Executive Director of the Detroit Docs International Film Festival, where he built it from a small one-night event with a dozen films, to one of the largest documentary film festivals in the US - screening over 120 films at over a dozen venues.

He has written or produced a variety of films, including the award-winning stop-motion short S.T.O.P., made with Academy Award nominee, Daria Kashcheeva; and iconic animator Bill Plympton's "Revengeance." The award-winning feature-length documentary, "Against the Current," marks his directorial debut; and two new feature documentary projects that he is producing, "Cutting the Line" and "The Erie Situation," are being released in 2022.
