Biography

Alan Olav Walker was born 24 August 1997. He was originally known by his stage name DJ Walkzz. Walker is a Norwegian record producer and DJ. He is best known for his 2015 single "Faded", which received platinum certifications in over 10 different countries. He is ranked 17th on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list of 2017, placing 38 positions higher from previous year. The recognizable logo consists of intertwined letters "A" and "W", the initials of his name, was designed by Walker himself in 2013. He also uses a hoodie and face mask resembling the concept of black bloc on stage to create the rest of the image. In the first promo pictures his management handed out, Walker's face was barely visible at all. Also in the music video for his single "Alone", he is all dressed as a black shadow figure. This is, according to the artist himself, a carefully planned image drawn up together with the record company Sony.

Born in Northampton, England and raised in Fana, Bergen, Norway.

I had no interest in music. But now, music means everything to me. I have no words to explain how beautiful music is. It is where you can create everything, like beautiful songs to sad songs to almost anything.

I keep my face covered during concerts. That's just something that is part of me, an artist, and I think it's a cool concept and look. It is really inspired by my love for video games, especially with the video game 'Watchdog' that I love.

Later on, when I signed with Sony, we wanted to re-release 'Fade' as 'Faded' with a brand new mix and with vocals by Iselin Solheim. I think Iselin was the first person who sung demo vocals for 'Faded.' And it worked out great! The way I got in touch with Iselin was through a guy that I work with in the studio.

Graphic design is a hobby that I started with back in 2010-2011, which I am still doing today. And because of that, I was able to design my own stuff and designed my own logo.

I want to enjoy not getting recognized while it lasts. But the mask is a symbol of unity. Anyone can be a Walker.
