Zhang Miao, film producer and distributor, CEO of Beijing Splendid Culture & Entertainment ("Beijing Splendid"), and also founder and Music Supervisor of Beijing Awakening Time Music Culture Limited Liability ("Awakening Time"). Chief Content Officer (CCO), Senior Vice President, and General Manager of the Film Division at Beijing Baination Pictures Co., Ltd..
During his fifteen-year tenure as Executive Director of Marketing & Distribution at Sony Pictures Entertainment China, Zhang Miao helped the company successfully distributed dozens of feature films and franchise in China market, such as James Bond (007) Series, Spider Man Series, Men in Black Series, 2012 (2009) and many other titles.
In January of 2016, Zhang Miao joined Beijing Culture and served as General Manager of its Film Division and senior assistant to the President. By incorporating an industrialized process of film-making, he gradually generated an ecosystem of contents creation inside the company, from film development, production to marketing and distribution. Under this structure, he led the team to continuously break the ceiling of Chinese film market, by producing and distributing many local blockbusters and box-office hits, such as Wolf Warriors 2 (2017), Mr.No Problem (2017), Dying to Survive (2018), A Cool Fish (2018), The Wandering Earth (2019), My People, My Homeland (2020), Bath Buddy (2020), Hi, Mom (2021) and others.
At the end of 2020, Zhang Miao launched his company Beijing Splendid Culture & Entertainment ("Beijing Splendid"), which is aimed to provide top-level creative contents that are entertaining, heartwarming, and resonant with local and global audiences. With its departments of Production, Marketing, Distribution, Business Development & IP Operation, Talents, and Innovation, Data & AIGC Research Center and Industry Funds. Beijing Splendid develops, produces and distributes contents in multiple formats, including but not limited to theatrical motion pictures, web movies & series, mini series, interactive and other innovative formats.
Since the establishment of Beijing Splendid, Zhang Miao and the team have launched Hi, Mom (2021), My People My Devotion (2021), the first News Documentary film in Chinese film history, and I Am What I Am (2021), the first Chinese original animated film that focused on the times of present-day story, which received the highest score in Douban's 2021 Film List, Till Love Do Us Apart (2024), a heartwarming and realistic film focusing on the people with disabilities, I am What I am 2 (2024), the original realist action comedy animated film, was named one of Top 5 highest-rated Chinese language movies of 2024 by Douban, which is the only animated film on the list. The mini-series "Go Beyond! A-Juan" and "Guanfu Cats" have both received the honor of being named as Key Literary and Artistic Projects of the "Beijing Grand Audio-Visual" by the Beijing Radio and Television Bureau, and other awards from the National Radio and Television Administration; some in-production titles, including DunHuang Warrior, Green Wave, The Lord of Weddings, Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars, Sunshine Thief, Space Travel Rush, the mini-series "I Am What I Am: The Spin-off Mini-series Season 2" and "Guanfu Cats 2", as well as the upcoming mini-series "Yueya's Journey: Tale of the Young Heroes" will soon be released on Tencent Video.
Over the past few years, Mr. Zhang Miao has produced and distributed several award-winning films, including three Excellent Feature Film Awards at the Huabiao Awards and two Outstanding Works Awards in the Spiritual Civilization "Five-One Project".
