Biography

Bryher is a writer, actor and director originally from Aberystwyth, but raised in Cornwall. She studied English Literature at the University of Bristol. She co-devised and co-wrote a BBC New Creatives short film, Anoraks, with Miles Sloman. The short is on iPlayer and screened at LOCO & LFF for Free, both at The BFI. Anoraks has received funding from Screen Cornwall to develop a pilot script and treatment which is being read by various production companies. In 2020, Bryher was selected to write & direct her own short film in the Cornish language, Mowes, which is also available to watch on iPlayer. The film was selected for UK based & international festivals including: Little Wing Festival, Cornwall Film Festival, Babel Film Festival & Celtic Media Film Festival. In 2021, Bryher was part of the writer's room for a BFI young audience fund project, No Friends Club. Bryher has been part of Screen Cornwall's New Writers Network and is part of the first Channel 4 scheme for drama writers from the South West & West where she has been mentored by Plimsoll Productions. Recently, she was selected to be part of Aluna Labs, a day of panels & pitching hosted by Vanessa Kirby's production company, through which she has since received mentoring from Georgia Oakley. She is also a BAFTA Connect member. Whilst training, she performed at the West End's Ambassadors Theatre, The Albert Hall and Hatton Garden Vaults. Bryher has also been part of R&D and rehearsed readings at Soho Theatre, Bunker Theatre & RADA. She has toured with various Cornish theatre companies extensively. In 2019, she co-devised and performed in a BBC New Creatives short film, Anoraks, as well as performing in FylmK's Cornish language short film, An Tarow. She has also performed in BFI backed short films, Mermaids & Spines.
