Biography

Ex-Formula One racing driver, who raced for: Ligier (1991 (13 GPs)-1992 (15 GPs)) and Larrousse (1993 (16 GPs)-1994 (15 GPs)). He started 59 Grands Prix and 7 Points. Best ranked in the World Championship: 11th in 1992.

Champion: JGTC/Super GT (1998, 1999), All-Japan GT Championship - GT500 (1998, 1999), International Formula 3000 (1990), Formule 3 France (1988), French Touring Car Championship (1987), Formula Renault France (1986).

Winner: JGTC All-Star USA 200 - GT500 (2004).

Teammates in Formula One were: Thierry Boutsen, Philippe Alliot, Toshio Suzuki, Olivier Beretta, Yannick Dalmas and Hideki Noda.

At the beginning of the first qualifying session on Friday for the 1992 Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix, Comas suffered a serious accident at the Blanchimont corner, which left him unconscious with the engine still running. Ayrton Senna immediately stopped his McLaren at the scene, ran to the wreckage, turned off the engine to prevent a fire or explosion and held the head of Comas until medical personnel arrived, in order to make sure that his airway was clear.
