Stefan Johansson was the teammate of Alain Prost at McLaren in 1987 and of Ayrton Senna at Toleman for two races in 1984.

In an interview with a specialized motorsport magazine, Johansson chose Alain Prost as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers, considering him the 'complete package' and intellectually superior to his competitors at the time.

According to Johansson, Prost was a master at preserving equipment, managing tires and fuel, and reading the race to win—often thinking about the championship rather than just a single victory.

The Swede stated that although Ayrton Senna might have been faster over a single lap, Prost was more complete in every aspect that ensures long-term success, including consistency and the ability to plan his career and strategy.

Johansson claims that Prost was extremely rational, whereas Senna was more emotional. The former Swedish driver believes Prost's approach was superior for those seeking multiple championships and, according to him, even Senna learned important lessons from Prost's technical and calculating driving style.
