- Michael Yu is an award-winning Scottish-Chinese writer and director from Hong Kong. He writes and directs narrative, music video and commercial work. His work has been shown and won awards at numerous festivals including the LA Film Awards and BAMPFA Fest.
His latest short films, EN GARDE and LITTLE CHEF won audience awards at the 48 Hour Film Project in the Bay Area and LA, respectively. EN GARDE went on to win five more awards including Best Film and Directing and will represent the Bay Area at Filmapalooza 2025 with a bid at Cannes.
Michael also works in creative development for RISE Entertainment Group - an Asian-focused studio headed by Erika North, ex-Head of HBO & Prime Video Asia. A graduate of Claremont McKenna College, he enjoys playing soccer and ultimate frisbee.
