Mini bio

  • James Robert "Jimmy" Stewart was the older brother of 'Formula 1' World Champion, Jackie Stewart. Jimmy was a Scottish racing driver before his brother, and he participated in the 1953 British Grand Prix (his only one), as well as three other non-championship races driving a Cooper for Ecurie Ecosse in 1953. Over the next few years, despite driving in several types of categories and cars including 'Le Mans', accidents would hamper Jimmy's career.

Unfortunately the 'Stewart' success would have to wait a while longer, but Jimmy's generosity towards younger brother Jackie, helped him on the ladder of motorsport. Thanks to 'Jimmy Stewart', a legend was born and history was to be created.

Jimmy Stewart spent most of his life managing auto repair garages and also car sales. This was from his native Scotland, the UK and America. Some of those businesses were owned by his brother.

Jimmy battled alcoholism for some time but his strength and determination persisted and he fought off his addiction. Again the generosity of Jimmy was such, that he was later involved in organizations assisting people with their own problems of alcoholism.
