His grandfather, George Ward, was a member of the original "Our Gang" series during the silent era and a songwriter, but was more well-known as an actor's agent for, among others, Ronald Reagan.
His grandmother, Vera Van, was the "blue velvet-voiced singer" of radio whose most famous role was as the nightclub singer in the Bette Davis movie, "Dark Victory."
