- Marie-Victorin was born on April 3, 1885 in Kingsey Falls, Arthabaska, Quebec, Canada. He died on July 15, 1944 in Sainte-Rosalie, Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, Canada.

- He became a member in the catholic order of the De La Salle Brothers under the name of Marie-Victorin. He was a teacher and later an university professor in natural sciences. He wrote "La Flore laurentienne" among many books and articles and founded the Botanical Garden in Montréal. Many awards,schools and colleges bear his name including a building at Université de Montréal where he taught.
