Riccardo Marchesini (born in Bologna, Italy), is an Italian film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is also known as director of the Auditorium Theatre in Molinella (Bologna).
After graduating at the Academia Antoniana of Dramatic Arts is assistant director of several television dramas and assistant director of Sergio Citti in one of his latest film "Viper". Since 1998, he starts a collaboration with the famous Italian director Pupi Avati. Author and director of documentaries and television programs, has directed commercials for advertising campaigns and music videos. Among his films, short feature films "Bocca di Rosa" and "The Last" (co-produced by Istituto Luce) receiving numerous awards in major Italian and European festivals, including the "Premio Fellini" given by the Unesco International Council for Film and Television, winning the first price of the MIFF (Milan International Film Festival) and the Genoa Film Festival. In 2011 comes the award winning "Buoi in sala" that tells, through the testimony of many artists such as Gianni Morandi, Samuele Bersani and Ivano Marescotti, the italian crisis of cinemas. The film is also sold in the libraries with a self-titled book of which Marchesini is the author.
In 2012 directed the documentary "Black Voices" with the participation of some of the best known writers of "noirs" describing the sights and charm of their most famous novels.
He actively collaborates with the broadcaster TV2000 shooting several TV documentaries.
In 2014 he realizes the docu-drama "My Country" that describes the places where some of the most famous singers from Emilia Romagna were born and sees the participation, among others, of singer Luciano Ligabue.
In 2016 directs the biographical documentary "Like a movie" about the adventurous life of actor Gabriele Tinti.
In 2017 he released his first feature film: "Caro Lucio ti scrivo," which he had also directed the homonym theater play, from which the movie is taken.
