Alex Ferguson(XV)
- Music Department
With much of his career unfolding at AIR Studios, Alex has worked on some of the best-known films of the last decade: his recent portfolio includes Mission:Impossible - The Final Reckoning and Mufasa: The Lion King.
Alex can often be found head bobbing along to the many musical adventures he's working on, such as feature films Snow White, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, The Little Mermaid, Matilda the Musical, alongside West End musicals Back To The Future: The Musical, Andrew Lloyd-Webber's Starlight Express and Just For One Day: Live Aid.
In 2024, he received a Golden Reel nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Music Editing for his work on Paul King's Wonka, a process that spanned over two years.
In addition to film, Alex boasts credits for a versatile body of work in music, including indie rock band Good Neighbours, Electronic/Classical collective Iskra Strings & Sam Symes and indie artist Lowswimmer.
One of many things he loves about the industry is the collaboration process and being part of a team shaping the stories being told. "I always enjoy the challenge of understanding a project's unique needs," he says, "so I can work out the best possible way to serve the production." Director Paul King on working with Alex on Wonka mentioned "..the vocal performances were totally transformed under Alex's guidance.'' Another tribute from Dave Metzger, for whom Alex engineered his score for Mufasa: The Lion King, also stated that the "overall sound of the music is quite amazing" under Alex's influence.
Alex's decade-long career in the music and film industry began with a scholarship at the Academy of Contemporary Music. After interning at some of London's best recording studios and working at Glastonbury Festival on various stages, he became an assistant engineer at AIR Studios in 2015. Since then he has immersed himself in studio life and honed his craft and collaborated with some of the best composers, directors, engineers and musical talents.
