Biography

Shane Hillier is a Detroit-based writer, director, and editor with a deep passion for the thriller genre and music videos. His latest short film, Everhand, screened at the 2026 Slamdance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Award for Best Unstoppable Short. The film also screened at Oscar-qualifying festivals including the HollyShorts Film Festival and the Heartland International Film Festival, and previously earned Best Film and Best Director, along with a Best Editing nomination at the 2025 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge. Shane’s work has been featured in Variety, Forbes, CNN, and The Wrap, marking him as a bold emerging voice in independent film.

Shane studied at the Motion Picture Institute in Troy, Michigan, where he wrote and directed three short films: Absolutely No Hunting, If These Walls Could Talk, and Yellow Bellied Rat. Following graduation, he created If These Walls Could Walk, a festival favorite that earned multiple accolades, including Best Film, Best Thriller, Best Production Design, and Best Editing. Currently, Shane continues to grow as a filmmaker, working across a variety of formats including narrative film and music videos. He remains an active contributor to the Detroit film community, bringing both creative vision and technical expertise to independent and professional productions alike.
