Jon Clarke(XII)

Jon Clarke is an award-winning composer for film, TV and advertising. Jon combines his love of sound design and music across all aspects of his work. His score for Raging Grace directed by Paris Zarcilla, produced by Chi Thai won Best Original Composition in a Feature Film at the Music and Sound Awards 2023. It was also nominated for Best Original Music at Vashon Island Film Festival. The film won the Narrative Feature Competition/Grand Jury Prize plus Thunderbird Rising awards at SXSW 2023. His debut feature film score for Kissing Candice directed by Aoife McArdle premiered at TIFF and also screened at Berlinale. In 2018 his score for the Red Cross Hope campaign saw the film receive the Grand Jury prize for craft Cannes Lions. Other notable credits include Netflix Documentary The River Runner which he co-scored original music and sync'd previous works. His musical style draws from his classical background as a violinist and pianist, fused with contemporary electronics, modular synthesis and closely knitted sound design.

As a sound designer his cutting edge work has seen him pick up a whole host of award wins and nominations, with gold awards for Sound Design at the British Arrows and Ciclope, plus 6 MAS Awards and further accolades at Kinsale, the Clios and Cannes Advertising Festivals. Most recently Jon completed supervising sound design for feature film which won the Narrative Feature Competition/Grand Jury Prize plus Thunderbird Rising awards at SXSW 2023, his work was nominated for Best Sound Design in a Feature Film at the 2023 Music and Sound Awards. 2022 saw Jon complete sound design and mixing for Netflix comedy special A Whole Lifetime With Jamie Demetriou. In 2021 Jon supervised sound on TV series Stah Let's Flats which saw Jamie Demetroiu picking up his third BAFTA for the series. Other notable credits include documentary feature film The Quiet One directed by Oliver Murray which had its US Premiere Tribeca Film Festival 2019 and Home staring Jack O'connell and Holliday Grainger which which won the 2017 BAFTA for Best Short Film. Jon has gained a global reputation for sound design excellence across all platforms and has been a jury member on a number of prestigious awards panels.
