Biography

Emily Ruhl is a filmmaker, producer, writer, actress and model. She has been featured in Teen Vogue, Italian Vogue, Nylon, Oyster Magazine, Marie Claire and Elle Canada, amongst many others. Emily has been the face of many cosmetic companies including Smashbox, KKW Beauty, Too Faced and MAC. As an actress, she first starred opposite Nicholas Hoult in Drake Doremus' feature film Newness, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Emily was named as one of Forbes Magazine's 30 Under 30 in Hollywood and Entertainment for 2024.

Emily made her producing, directorial, and writing debut with BLUE MOON. The film premiered at NewFest (2021) in New York City and has been to over 100 festivals around the world. She also co-wrote and produced the theme song for BLUE MOON titled HER.

Public School Pictures was founded in 2021 and has since executive produced Playland, which debuted at the Rotterdam Film Festival (2022) and at the Tribeca Film Festival (2023). The company's slate also includes Is Now a Good Time? which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival (2024), In The Garden of Tulips (Vimeo Staff Pick) (2024), The Last Brunch (Vimeo Staff Pick) and We Strangers. Both The Last Brunch and We Strangers premiered at SXSW (2024).

Public School Pictures recently launched a 14-piece merchandise collection and introduced the non-profit Back To School program, which will herald the next generation of filmmakers by providing creatives with opportunities and exposure to the industry. Emily is also on the board of Media For Texas, an organization responsible for increased incentives and in-state media production in her home state of Texas.
