Maryam Zahirimehr is an Iranian-American filmmaker, writer, director, producer, and photographer whose work focuses on human identity, social oppression, and women's experiences around the world. She holds an MFA in Photography from Lesley University and has developed a multidisciplinary artistic practice combining photography and cinema.
Her filmmaking is characterized by a poetic and visually expressive approach, often incorporating surrealism, symbolism, and magical realism to explore difficult social and psychological subjects. Her previous film work includes Endless? (2018) and Forbidden Womanhood (2022), followed by Pantolla, a feature film exploring oppression, identity, silence, and resistance.
