Biography

Nico Ballesteros is an American filmmaker and the founder of NB Studios, based in New York. Raised in Southern California, he began his career at 18 when he was granted extended access to Kanye "Ye" West, ultimately capturing more than 3,000 hours of footage over six years. He directed, shot, edited, and produced the resulting feature, In Whose Name? (2025), released theatrically by AMSI Entertainment on more than 1,000 U.S. screens and named one of the Los Angeles Times' Top Ten Films of 2025. His follow-up, American YoungBoy (2026), chronicling NBA YoungBoy's record-breaking MASA Tour, reached the domestic box office Top Ten. Known for a purely observational approach, Ballesteros works across scales, from solo iPhone cinematography to directing multi-camera ARRI productions for live events including Ye's Donda listening experiences and Sunday Service. Through NB Studios, he is developing a slate of documentary and narrative projects.
