Cecilio Martinez is an American cinematographer, editor, writer, director, and photographer based in Texas. He has created over 20 short films, earning 8 wins and 16 nominations on IMDb. His 2024 film Unrest received multiple nominations at the Austin Revolutionary Film Festival, including Best Film, Best Cinematography, and Filmmaker of the Year. Martinez is the founder of Maverick Lens Productions, formerly known as CM9 Films, and has participated in numerous film festivals, including the San Antonio Film Festival, as well as the Austin and San Antonio 48 Hour Film Projects, among others. His recent short films Hearts Out (2025) and Mr. Magnificent (2024) showcase his range from stylized mystery to grounded character drama. A self-taught filmmaker with a collaborative spirit, he continues to explore themes of identity, resilience, and quiet rebellion. As one festival juror noted, "His films may be short, but they linger long after the credits roll." As of June 2025, he is developing two new short films and remains an active voice in the Texas independent film scene.
