Moises Ezequiel Tobias is a first-generation American working as a cinematographer, actor, writer, visual effects artist, and director. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in New Media Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, New York, where he is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in 3D Animation at the School of Film and Animation.

Born in Los Angeles, California, to parents originally from El Salvador, Moises is the fifth of six children. He is the only deaf member of an otherwise hearing family; fortunately, he grew up with full communication access and the use of sign language. He first discovered his passion for directing and filmmaking while attending the Marlton School for the Deaf. As a teenager, he taught himself the fundamentals of filming and editing, a self-led education that profoundly shaped his understanding of cinematic language. His love for cinematography is deeply rooted in his lifelong passion for studying movies.

Outside of his professional work, Moises enjoys building LEGO sets, collecting concept art books, and playing role-playing games on his Xbox Series X, including Dark Souls, Halo, Fallout, and Skyrim. He stays highly active through gym workouts, biking, and running. Among his notable athletic accomplishments are completing a 13.1-mile half marathon in Rochester, New York, and earning a medal in a 6-mile Spartan Race in Canada.

Moises also has a strong background in film education. From 2016 to 2020, he worked as a film instructor for Deaf Film Camp at Camp Mark 7 in Old Forge, New York, where he collaborated with staff to teach campers about filmmaking equipment, techniques, and visual storytelling. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked as a freelance instructor, teaching introductory storyboarding to high school students over Zoom. Despite the challenges of distance learning, he successfully used his own artwork to inspire his students on-screen. Above all, he finds immense joy in helping his students and campers succeed and have fun with their creative projects.

While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Moises co-founded Morpheyes Studio in Rochester, New York, established in 2019. He has enjoyed great success collaborating with his studio team, serving as Director of Photography on award-winning projects such as the short film Inspire (2023), which won nine awards, and Deaf And... (Episode 1 - Deaf Identity, 2024), which won three awards. Having previously directed independent short films like Zephyr (2017) and Hate (2017), Moises continues to acquire advanced camera equipment and is actively developing several new cinematic projects for the future.
