Biography

Ximena Rios is a Mexican-Canadian filmmaker from Acapulco, Mexico. She is best known for writing and directing Surreal (2017), Complacency (2018) and Faded (2019). Ximena strives to craft heart felt stories that push the importance of diversifying and amplifying underrepresented voices in film. Her films have screened at festivals in Vancouver, New York, LA, and London. Ximena's web-series Complacency (2018) has won the award for Best Series at numerous festivals and award shows, and she has been nominated multiple times for her screenwriting and directing.

During the fall of 2019, Ximena directed A Good Night Sleeps (2021), a proof of concept developed by Virescent Cinema. Ximena then went on to direct and produce Creative Canvas (2020), a web-series pilot episode funded by Telus Storyhive.
