Mini bio

  • Marie Rodriguez is an LA-based producer whose work is grounded in care, intention, and long-term creative relationships. She is a 2026 Sundance Producers Lab Fellow with the adaptation of HOW NOT TO DROWN IN A GLASS OF WATER, written by Angie Cruz and Aurora Guerrero and directed by Guerrero. Marie is drawn to filmmaker-driven projects with a distinct point of view, particularly stories rooted in lived experience, emotional honesty, and perspectives that have historically been underrepresented on screen.

As the co-founder of Purple Intuition, Marie works alongside filmmakers throughout the life of a project, building the creative and practical strategy needed to bring ambitious independent films to the screen. Her background in physical production allows her to bridge the creative and logistical sides of filmmaking, balancing creative vision with a viable path to production. She also produces commercial, branded, and short-form content for agencies, brands, and production partners, bringing the same collaborative and hands-on approach to each project.

Marie’s recent producing credits include the narrative feature HELLO OUT THERE, directed by Otis Blum and starring Chloe Bennet and Phil Dunster; Hulu documentary QUEENMAKER: THE MAKING OF AN IT GIRL, directed by Zackary Drucker; and Revry’s I’M DEAD, a live stand-up comedy series. Through Purple Intuition, she has worked on independent features including BOB TREVINO LIKES IT, directed by Tracie Laymon and starring Barbie Ferreira and John Leguizamo; BRIAN, directed by Will Ropp; and MAYBE WE SHOULD, directed by A.J. Tesler.

At the center of her work is an understanding that filmmaking carries a purpose and responsibility beyond the screen. Stories can deepen our understanding of one another, shift perspectives, and, at their most powerful, change or even save a life.
