Maarten Bun is a Dutch film director, cinematographer and producer with over 20 years of experience in cinematic storytelling. Known for blending strong visual language with narrative drive, he works across feature films, documentaries and high-end commercial productions.
From an early age, Maarten became obsessed with how images are shaped by lenses, light and mechanics. Introduced to photography through his father’s analog SLR camera, he quickly moved beyond simply taking pictures, experimenting with optics, glass characteristics, depth and later stereoscopic camera setups. Largely self-taught, he studied lenses and imaging systems the way others study scripts, building a technical foundation that still defines his visual style today.
After entering the industry through music videos for well-known artists, Maarten transitioned into directing and shooting cinematic brand films for national and international clients. This hybrid background, combining commercial precision with a filmmaker’s eye, allowed him to develop a signature style built on movement, scale and emotional clarity.
Today, Maarten is focused on developing feature films and premium documentaries. He is especially drawn to high-tension storytelling, dynamic camera movement and bold visual design.
