Ching-Shan Chang is a Los Angeles-based composer of multimedia scores and concert music whose work spans studio films, independent films, television, trailers, and live performance. She has collaborated with leading Hollywood composers including Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL), Benjamin Wallfisch, Mychael Danna, Carter Burwell, Andrew Lockington, and Dino Meneghin. Her credits include Sonic the Hedgehog 2 & 3 (Paramount Pictures), Until Dawn (Sony), It: Welcome to Derry (HBO), Rebel Moon Parts I & II (Netflix), My Father’s Dragon (Netflix), Teen Wolf: The Movie (Paramount+), and more.
Her festival highlights include Elsewhere (A Flor Azul), which screened at the 71st Cannes Film Festival. She is also the first Asian female composer to win the Golden Eye at the International Zurich Film Music Competition (Danny and the Wild Bunch). Additional honors include awards from the International Berlin Film Scoring Competition and the Krakow FMF Young Talent Award. At the beginning of 2026, her score for Laws of Man, directed by Phil Blattenberger and starring Harvey Keitel, Graham Greene, Forrie J. Smith, Dermot Mulroney, and Jackson Rathbone, won the David Raksin Award for Emerging Talent category at the Society of Composers & Lyricists Awards. The film was featured at major festivals including the Santa Fe International Film Festival and the Newport Beach Film Festival. She has also contributed an experimental score for short film Cry Eat Cry, and will be working on the score for animated feature film Secret Whisper, directed by Annecy-award-winning director and animator Fish Wang.
Beyond the screen, Chang is an active concert composer with commissions ranging from symphony orchestras and wind bands to chamber ensembles and soloists. She has collaborated with the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, and Missouri Symphony Orchestra, among others. Her music has been featured at Taiwan’s National Day Ceremony at Taipei 101 and the Taiwan Lantern Festival light shows for 2025 and 2026, recorded with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra.
