Olly Bian

Olly Bian is a Cinematographer driven by a passion for storytelling and a deep respect for the craft. Since 2016, he has embraced the power of visual storytelling, recognizing how every creative decision made behind the camera impacts a viewer's emotional experience. Beginning his career as a Lighting Technician and Camera Assistant, Olly built a foundation of technical abilities that inform his thinking as a Cinematographer. This hands-on experience taught him the importance of precision and adaptability, while his supportive network of collaborators and mentors encouraged a culture of growth and innovation. Olly brings this ethos to every project, prioritizing economical and efficient methods to achieve a film's impactful visual needs. Since 2021, Olly has worked as a Remote Head Technician on high-profile productions, including Yellowjackets, Fargo, The Last of Us, Heretic, and the upcoming Tron: Ares. These experiences have provided him with unique insight into advanced camera movement and as well as the osmosis of how established Cinematographers tackle their challenges. He has learned to adapt the techniques and tools of big-budget productions to independent films, enhancing the visual quality of smaller projects without compromising efficiency or creativity. This influence is evident in his recent work on Imran & Alykhan, Ice- Breaker, and All That She Wants. With 9 years of experience and 15 independent projects under his belt, Olly has evolved from a young filmmaker captivated by the process to an artist deeply invested in the emotional resonance of his work. He believes that Cinematography is as much about personal connection and storytelling as it is about technical execution. Every day, his expanding perspective as a filmmaker allows him to approach new projects with renewed insight and creativity.
