Biography

Thi Be Nguyen is a King Charles III Coronation Medal recipient. The medal ceremony was held at the Senate of Canada in Ottawa on September 20, 2024 by Senator Amina Gerba. She is recognized for her dedication to advancing cultural diplomacy through her work at UniAction, the Canada-ASEAN Business Council, National Bank of Canada and other organizations.

She is a Canadian born in Vientiane, Laos. Her origins are from Ha Tinh - Vietnam and her grandparents was established in Laos during the Indochinese Era. After the Vietnam war, she fled Laos with her parents and siblings by land and boat to arrive in Thailand refugee camps to finally immigrate to Canada in 1980.

She is the Founder and Executive producer of UniAction Films, based in Montreal, Canada, who produces, promotes and distributes films and documentaries related to social issues and creating a platform for dialogue and solutions.

She is also the Executive Director of the Canada-ASEAN Business Council.

In June 2020, Thi Be Nguyen launched the Social Impact Film and Art Festival Awards (SIFA Festival) in Canada, which will highlight and recognize films and art projects that creates awareness on social issues around the world.

Her 2nd documentary titled Coming Home - Beyond A Moonless Night is produced with the Oscar nominee filmmaker Marie-Hélène Panisset. It is scheduled to be released in August 2020.
