Biography

Maximilian G.L. Ward

Overview

  • Nickname
    • Max Ward

Mini bio

  • Born in Ascot and raised in Windsor, United Kingdom, Max was involved in drama from a young age, treading the boards as both 'Fagin' and 'Hamlet' in school productions. He continued this passion at his senior school, Hampton, where he studied Drama to GCSE level, writing and starring in football hooligan play 'Blue Army'. However, Max's dedication to sport took precedence in his final two years at Hampton, where he went on to have great success. That said, he maintained an aptitude for writing, and produced and edited the school sports newspaper.

It was at Leeds University where Max rediscovered drama, featuring in Spanish play 'Mision al Pueblo Desierto' as part of his Spanish degree. He also hosted two shows on the student radio station, one music based, the other sports. He continued to write and in 2013, upon graduation from Leeds, he began a Masters in screen and stage writing at Regent's University. Working in television production in the meantime, Max graduated with merit in 2015, immediately setting his sights on making a short film. He interned for a month at Number 9 Productions, gaining valuable insight from producer Stephen Woolley. Inspired by the likes of Martin McDonagh, Chris Nolan and Quentin Tarantino, Max set out to make his first film, '(A Very) Ham-Fisted Stakeout', which shoots in October 2016. Max lists Pulp Fiction, White Heat and It's a Wonderful Life as his three favourite films of all time.
