Will Agee is an award-winning documentary filmmaker from the Napa Valley. He is the Founder & Director of Dulcinea Productions.
Will, born 1987 in Boston, Massachusetts, grew up in Saint Helena, California. Before starting his career in film, Will has been a nationally touring musician, a graduate of Stanford University, and an entrepreneur.
In 2016, Will released his first film, a documentary short titled, Crescite. The film details how the community of Napa Valley came together to create a more progressive environment for its farm workers. Crescite went on to receive many positive reviews from film festivals and win several awards.
In the spring of 2017, Will began production on his debut feature documentary, The Land of High Mountains. This moving film highlights the only pediatric hospital in Haiti and premiered at Palm Springs Film Festival in 2019 to wide acclaim. It was released on AppleTV in 2020.
Guerrera, a limited docuseries that reveals the remarkable true story of the trailblazing cadre of women who served at the tip of the spear in America's longest war, will be released widely on February 15, 2025.
There are three other documentary feature films, with Will Agee directing, in various stages of post-production that will be released throughout 2025.
Will's approach to filmmaking is elegant and distinctive. He uses poetic cinematography, deeply intimate interviews, and soaring musical scores to transport the audience. Despite working with highly sensitive issues including immigration, poverty, and war, his films have demonstrated the ability to bridge empathy gaps. In describing his work, Will writes:
"I have a profound admiration for the capacity of human beings to rise above any obstacle. The common denominator of my films is a celebration of the unsung hero and a pursuit of beauty even when it may appear elusive. It is my sincere belief that any authentic artistic endeavor is an arduous odyssey with a terminus unknown. It must be approached with humility and resolve in equal measure and enlightenment will always follow. Few have captured this sentiment more succinctly than T.S. Eliot: 'We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.'"
