Biography

  • Born in 1984, AJ grew up in Lancaster Pennsylvania. His father would take him along with him on photography explorations. Those explorations that helped him develop an interest in photography and video at such an early age. He now documents rural coal communities in the Pennsylvania area. AJ has recently shown at Rowan University as well as The Peach Tree International Film Festival. His Video and Photo work has won Numerous awards.

    AJ graduated with the 'Best Video Portfolio' Award from The Art Institute of Philadelphia. He won the Art Institute short Film Scholarship which helped pay for his degree and studies. During his time in Philadelphia, AJ worked and interned for Warner Brothers Philadelphia TV Station as well as Image Media Commercial video studio. He later interned with The Center for Emerging Visual Artists.

    Moving to Lancaster to study photography, AJ went to Pennsylvania College of Art & Design. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art. During this time, AJ worked with Nick Gould Studios, Toby Richard Studios, as well as Assembly Films. He also founded the artist collective "16 Pound Rabbit", which lead to Co Operations of The Painted Desert Gallery in Lancaster from 2009-2012.

    He also worked on the Short Film "Death Valley: A Love Story", directed by Andrea Campbell This film was based on AJ's father's battle with Cancer. "Death Valley: A Love Story" was also produced into a play by Sandy Asher which has been put on production all over the US.

    AJ still lives and works in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, while traveling to other areas of Central Pennsylvania as well as other East Coast and Mid West locations.

    Currently AJ's artistic projects involve Bad Movie Night, a YouTube blog and podcast focused on reviewing underground films, directing and producing short films and new musical project.
