Gyulyara Meliki is an Azerbaijani filmmaker based in London, known for bold storytelling and a compelling cinematic vision. She earned her MA in Film Directing from the Met Film School (2017) and has received multiple accolades throughout her career.
Her journey began with Gone Hopes (2011), an amateur short she co-wrote, co-directed, acted in, and edited, which reached over 1M views on YouTube within weeks. She later won Best Director at the Moscow Zoom 24-Hour Film Competition for October, 20.
Her first professional short, Trust Me (2016), dedicated to the victims of the Paris terror attacks, screened in London, Sydney, and Moscow, earning a Best Director nomination at the British Independent Film Festival (2017) and later winning at Cinegate Aurora (2018).
Her thriller Escort (2019) gained international recognition with over 10 festival selections, BAFTA qualification, and awards including Best Horror Film. She is currently developing her debut feature film.
